iLoud Speaker from IK Multimedia
As many of you will know we reviewed the awesome iRing from
IK Multimedia recently, and we have the opportunity to review more of their
products.
+IK Multimedia's iLoud is a 40-watt stereo speaker,
it puts out a combined 40 watts of sonic power between its four drivers. If you
don’t know what that means, it means it is AMAZINGLY loud in comparison to its
compact look.
It allows users to connect to a plethora of instruments for amplification purposes, and makes use of IK Multimedia’s apps on iOS.

Design
In regards to design, the iLoud is a beauty to behold, clean
simple lines with one prominent feature that draws the eye.
That prominent feature happens to be a volume knob in the upper centre of the unit that glows red around its perimeter when it is turned on.

The speaker is made of a sturdy plastic, and it certainly
does not feel like it would break at a moment’s notice, it is built to last.
There is even a handy kickstand that is built into the base of the iLoud that swivels out and has a grippy rubber like texture and certainly adds to the stability (especially if used on a bumpy surface).

Underneath the stylish grill, there are four powered drivers
which pump out the sound.
The built-in battery is rated for 10 hours at NORMAL volumes, and using it at full power will of course lead to reduced battery times, but from our experience it always lasted a good 6-8 hours even at higher volumes. Fantastic!

Around the back there are 2 ports, one input, one guitar/mic
input, power on/off switch, the charging port, a status light, the Bluetooth
pairing button and a gain control knob. The included power adapter means you
can constantly charge while you’re not using it (or even while you are) to keep
that battery topped up.
Sound
The iLoud is a very capable speaker, whether you are using
it as a normal speaker for streaming music while you are out camping, having a
picnic or just blasting music in your room.
The sound is very true to the original source, it has a good hefty bass, nice clear mids and very clean highs, it sounds as good as it looks.
We were not disappointed and very much impressed with the power of this unit. Very minimal distortion even at high volumes, which is something we were particularly worried about, outstanding.

Where the iLoud excels in comparison to many other portable
speakers is that it can be used as an Amp for guitars and microphones.
As the iLoud is part of the iRig line, it has a built-in iRig circuit which means you can connect an iOS device with the included cable, load up one of IK Multimedia’s various products, plug in a guitar to the ¼-inch Jack and BOOM, instant portable guitar amp with effects.

The system is very flexible, and would suit musicians down
to the ground. Any instrument that has a decent output signal and outputs can
be attached, so it leaves it down to the user to discover the awesome power of
its uses.
With a little bit of adjustment on the gain knob, you can really make this speaker sing with instruments attached.

Conclusion
The iLoud is a very good Bluetooth speaker and an even
better portable guitar amp.
In this price range, I feel safe to say that this is a fantastic package for anyone that could use the capabilities this little beast offers.
If you throw in the amount of effects, amps and all the extras you get if you buy the iOS apps and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
It’s sleek, it’s portable, it’s powerful and you should go and buy it.
