London, 5 January 2015 – Polaroid is now shipping the Polaroid® Socialmatic™ instant digital camera, giving consumers the ability to print, post and share – instantly. 

With a remarkable, retro-inspired design that is undeniably Polaroid, the camera fuses technology with fashion, individual with community and creates a social media hub where every user can print, post to social media and follow others, delivering a true 360-degree social media experience.

Capture Your Moments

Designed by Socialmatic LLC and manufactured by authorized Polaroid licensee, C&A Licensing, the Polaroid Socialmatic changes the way consumers look at digital cameras with its unique square shape and vintage design.  The Polaroid Socialmatic camera utilizes an Android operating system, providing a familiar, easy to use interface and access to numerous creative capabilities and apps.  

Consumers can use either the 14 megapixel front- or 2 megapixel rear- camera to capture their favorite moments. Included is an LED flash for great images even in low light.  Once the image is captured, it can be viewed on the 4.5” touchscreen LCD display.  

Using the easy to navigate touch screen, the user has the ability to customize, edit or enhance their images with text, icons and clip art—without having to wait to get to a computer or tablet.  Then the images can be saved to a Micro SD card or to the camera’s 4GB of internal storage.  

ZINK Zero Ink® Printing

Once the image is captured, the Polaroid Socialmatic camera uses the most current evolution of instant printing technology, allowing users to select, print and share physical prints instantly using the ink-free Zero Ink® Printing technology by ZINK Imaging. 

The key to the ink-free system is the patented ZINK Paper®, an advanced composite material embedded with cyan, yellow and magenta dye crystals and with a protective polymer overcoat.  Before printing, the dye crystals are colorless making ZINK Paper look like regular white photo paper. 

The ZINK-enabled Printer uses heat to activate and colorize these crystals. The result is full-color, high quality, long-lasting and smudge-proof images without the need for ink cartridges, ribbons or toner.  The 2X3 inch sticker-backed photo prints in just under a minute so consumers can instantly share physical photos with their friends and family. 

Instantly Post & Share

For the consumer who would rather share digitally, the Polaroid Socialmatic camera allows consumers to instantly upload and share images to their favorite social networking sites, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and the new Socialmatic Photonetwork via the camera’s built in Wi-Fi. 

If Wi-Fi isn’t immediately available, the camera easily pairs with consumers’ smartphones via Bluetooth to enable instant sharing from virtually anywhere. 

 Remote Photo Printing

The Polaroid Socialmatic camera bridges instant photo printing and digital photo sharing via an enhanced portfolio of features designed around the camera’s unique abilities. 

Every camera and every photo has its own individual QR code enabling the user to scan the code from the picture, view its history, track its whereabouts and continue to share and follow it virtually anywhere in the world – thus building a unique global Socialmatic network.  

Consumers can also upload images from their mobile devices using the camera’s Wi-Fi or Bluetooth features and send it to another Polaroid Socialmatic camera to be printed and shared.  This allows the camera to act as a remote printer that’s only accessible to approved network members –regardless of location.
