Goodbye bad hair days!

Posted By: CelinMay - Friday, January 30, 2015
bad hair day

Everybody has those days: you want to look perfect but somehow your hair doesn't want to fit into your plans. Bad hair days can be REALLY annoying! But fortunately there are some simple and stylish ways to get through the day, even with your hair not looking 100% perfect.

Beanie

They do not only keep you warm on cold and rainy days but also help you hide your hair on a typical bad hair day. There is a huge variety of beanies out there, starting from simple black to mixed colors. If that’s still too boring for you, you can even get one with a short statement or quote on it.

Fat? What? – No, HAT!

Another elegant version of “how to hide your bad hair day” would be a simple hat. After seeing an absence of people wearing hats, it had it’s comeback in 2014. Nevertheless, hats are still super trendy in 2015 and if you’re tired of wearing beanies consider getting a hat instead.

Bandana

If you don’t want to completely cover your hair you can wear a bandana to spice up your hairstyle. Years ago I used to wear them pretty much everyday, not as a hairband but as a scarf. But wearing them as a hairband looks way more stylish, try it out!

This is one of my go to outfits. It is so comfy and these jeans make me want to cut holes in all my other pairs. And now that it's getting warmer I probably will! I have had these boyfriend jeans for a while, and love them cause they are long enough to really cuff. I love the look of jeans cuffed to be a little shorter and nude heels.

Do you like these rings? I made them a few weeks ago and am in love! I really like the idea of knuckle rings, but found that those that I have seen in the store fall off my fingers really easily. This one fits perfectly not only cause it is customized but because it is a coil. And they were all so easy to make! Literally took me like ten minutes and I made a ton!

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Charlie and I went to the Avett Brothers concert in Boston and it was SO good! They were amazing live and I would totally recommend it!

XOXO, K

Top 5 Thrift Shop Items - More Than Pennies

Posted By: Pennie's - Based on true story - Friday, January 23, 2015
"Cause darling I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream." - Taylor Swift
knitwear with hoodySorry, for short break! My fiancé had surgery and is in hospital right now. Nothing too serious, but I have to take care of our house, dogs and of course my studies!

So I have been pretty busy and I have missed all the good products from second hand store... I was planning to go tomorrow.

But today I was thinking that I would tell you my TOP 5 2nd store stuff. We all have different favorites, but these are what always grasps my attention:

#1 Shirts, tops etc. I buy these way too often, every nice shirt that I see! However it works seasonally.
In spring and summer I buy all sorts of T-shirts and tops. I don't look for any specific label, I choose those which have special prints.
In winter I prefer knitwear and sweaters. Mostly because it's so damn cold out here! And they of course have to be good looking!

#2 Purses and handbags. I have found many amazing bags from 2nd hand stores! My absolutely favorites are Guess and Jimmy Choo bags that I bought for some ridiculous price (just a couple of euros). I checked and they were authentic. Some one didn't know what they were selling...

knitwear hoody#3 Dresses. When is time to get a party dress, I go always on 2nd hand patrol!
There is a much bigger selection when looking for dresses that are perfect for you!
I'm quite conservative so I wear dresses with longer tail (knee or longer). I don't like to show my bottom all around... I like to wear dresses with leggings or jeans.

#4 Trousers. Like I said in my last post, I have to take trousers and skirts under a schedule!
My main interests are in jeans and leggings. I'm not exactly a "skirt-person".
Last Spring I bought lovely yellow jeans for 1.50 euros! It's quite difficult to buy jeans, if you aren't 100 % sure about your size.

#5 Accessories. In thrift shops you are bound to find a large selection of jewelry, necklaces and belts for a good price!
I don't recommend buying any ear rings, at least not before you have boiled them in hot water. I like different colored belts, because they fit with almost any knitwear or dresses. In Finland, teenagers call them "booby belts". They underline your waist.

Well, that's all for now. See you next time!

P.S. In these photos, I have my goddaughters knitwear with hoody. I borrowed it... ;)

Ashley Williams for LG Garment Carrier Review

Posted By: Unknown - Monday, January 19, 2015
LG has partnered with the fabulous British designer Ashley Williams to create a statement garment carrier, that will not only protect your clothes but will look stunning at the same time!
A recent survey by LG revealed that on average British adults ruin 1 or 2 pieces of clothing each year whilst doing their laundry; with over 600,000 people estimated to have spoiled a staggering nine items in just 12 months.

LG hopes to encourage us Brits to take more care of our garments and prevent the wasteful need to replace items that should have been looked after in the first place.
We need to invest in our future-proof wardrobes and maintain them and get out of this throw-away society in regards to fashion.
LG sent us a review sample, and we were mighty impressed.
Ashley Williams for LG Garment Carrier
Giving fashion lovers a full garment care solution.
The garment carrier has a striking 70's airbrush lipstick print and is made from 100% polyester micro-fibre, has structured piped edges and a full length zip enclosure, ensuring your pretty new dress stays looking that way for a long time to come.

It folds neatly in half to conserve space till you need to use it (and we think would make a killer Tote bag design, perhaps an idea for the future!), hangs nicely from the handles and promotes 'slower' fashion. What more could you ask for?

If you are looking for an affordable, fashionableexquisitely made garment carrier, then look no further than the Ashley Williams for LG Garment Carrier.

Winter Time - More Than Pennies

black jacket divided

It has snowed for few days now, there is like half a meter of it!

We have two jack russells and it's fun to watch as they are jumping up and down, trying to move forward! :D

Anyway, my goddaughter has a school musical in early February.

She was wondering what to wear and asked if I could help her. So we decided to go my favorite 2nd hand store to look for some dresses.

We circled around and found some nice pieces (well, at least I thought they were nice, she wasn't so thrilled about them). But because it's mid-winter, we weren't quite comfortable to buy a summer dress...

That's why we didn't buy any 'pretty' things. She found an amazing piece with knitting, a long tail and great collar! I would love to have it, but I was nice and gave it to her.
We also found an Ed Hardy T-shirt for one euro! It's a little bit "red neck" but fun to wear! And what was there for me?

A cool black jacket with printed chains and a Nike's sport hoodie. I love that jacket! It doesn't come to my waist, it's quite short. There is a zipper on the front and the fabric is some sort of synthetic silk. I was so bored at school, that I took some selfies in the bathroom. ;)

It's smart to do blogging things when you got "extra time". Right?

I have now bought so many tops that I might have to start to look for trousers. So in my next posts I am doing a bit about trousers and another one perhaps for dresses?

Dressing Up - More Than Pennies

Posted By: Pennie's - Based on true story - Wednesday, January 14, 2015
"Underneath your clothes, there's an endless story." -Shakira

I have been quite busy, because I started a new school this week!
I'm on business studies for the next two years.

Still I had time to visit the second hand store that I always go to.
I wasn't looking for anything special, just browsing.
I have gained some weight in past year, almost 10 kg!
It might not show, but I can feel it...

It's because I have a bad back injury and I don't horse ride anymore. That's why I have some problems with choosing clothes. They are always the wrong size these days! I think I'm skinnier that I really am. :D

But now in this weeks clothes find!

I found this amazing dress. It didn't have any tags, so I have no clue what it is.
It's some kind of black lace, with small 80's shoulders. I don't know where I might use it.
It is a little bit too sexy to use in school, especially only with bras. ;)
Another piece that I bought is a gray knitting vest. It has buttons in the front and a belt.
I have used it with long sleeved shirt under it and it works perfect.

I'm making a second post later this week. I'm going to do some shopping with my goddaughter and her friend. She needs some dresses for her school musical, so I promised to help her with my special 2nd hand store skills!

See you later!

PlexiDrone - Makes Aerial Photography Easier than Ever Before

DreamQii Introduces PlexiDrone to Make Aerial Photography Easier than Ever Before
Swarm capability allows pilots to fly multiple drones at once, all from a single mobile device
Toronto, OCTOBER 1, 2014 – 9:00 a.m. ET

Core news facts:
  • ·         Today, DreamQii introduces PlexiDrone – the first ultra-portable, swarm-capable, easy-to-control camera robot made for professional photographers, film-makers, hobbyists and developers.
  • ·         Attentive to market feedback from film-makers and photographers, DreamQii realized the demand for an extremely portable aerial photography platform. In response, DreamQii engineered an ultra-compact solution that can be assembled or disassembled in less than a minute, with no tools.
  • ·         With DreamQii’s PlexiDrone, you will never have to crop landing gear or propellers out of your footage. A perfectly-positioned camera stabilization system combined with cutting-edge retractable landing gear give PlexiDrone a completely unobstructed 360-degree field of view.
  • ·         The PlexiDrone is compatible with a variety of cameras including standard point-and-shoot, GoPro, Sony Action Cam and others under 1KG (the maximum payload). No tools are needed in order to swap out the payload with other cameras or custom hardware on-the-fly.
  • ·         DreamQii’s PlexiDrone is also a development platform where makers can create and share custom payload modules. Easy access to a developer’s port and power port make the PlexiDrone an ideal development platform.
Plexidrone Kit

  • ·         Using the PlexiHub, a single user can control a swarm of PlexiDrones. The PlexiHub is a proprietary Bluetooth-enabled bridge that acts like a wireless router for drones. This allows one user to simultaneously capture aerial footage from multiple vantage points. Swarm technology extends usage scenarios by allowing a single user to control a network of drones to accomplish goals like following search grid patterns or surveying larger surface areas.
  • ·         PlexiDrone is controlled through any smartphone or tablet using DreamQii’s custom PlexiGCS (ground control software).  PlexiGCS is a next-generation control platform that allows the user to operate one or many PlexiDrones with a range of up to 1 mile. Users interact with a 3D map to identify stationary or moving points of interest, draw desired flight paths and send commands. PlexiGCS eliminates the need for expert piloting skills and a bulky RC remote control (although one can still be used if desired).
  • ·         The PlexiDrone is a social robot with customizable voice prompts designed to engage, inform and entertain the user. Instead of watching for status indicators like blinking or color-coded LEDs, PlexiDrone talks to you and informs you of its status.
  • ·         With removable snap-fit arms, the PlexiDrone can fit in a container the size of a lunch box. DreamQii has focused on creating an appealing industrial design to match what consumers would expect from an off-the-shelf, ready-to-fly retail package.
  • ·         DreamQii will also offer the PlexiPack – a sleek and stylish hard-shell backpack designed to make transporting PlexiDrone easy.  The PlexiPack brings a lifestyle element to the PlexiDrone experience.·
  • Starting today, DreamQii’s PlexiDrone is available for pre-order through Indiegogo. There are multiple perk levels or “kits” to match any contributor’s needs, including:

o   The PlexiDrone Starter Kit which includes one PlexiDrone, one PlexiHub, one battery and one battery charger.
o   The PlexiDrone Pro Kit comes with everything included in the Starter Kit, as well as a high-performance brushless camera gimbal for smooth footage (camera stabilization).
o   The PlexiDrone Ultimate Kit comes with everything included in the Pro Kit, as well the PlexiPack. In retail stores this package will sell for roughly $1399.
  • Shipping to the U.S. and internationally, DreamQii will deliver the first batch of PlexiDrones in spring 2015.
  • Follow DreamQii on Twitter and Like DreamQii on Facebook to stay updated with the campaign. To learn more and order your own PlexiDrone, check out http://www.dreamqii.com.

Quotes:

Klever Freire, Co-founder and CEO, DreamQii:
“Historically, drones have been difficult to assemble, expensive and not consumer-friendly. Even the do-it-yourself drones require extensive expertise, offer complex instructions and the costs add up quickly. The PlexiDrone makes it easy for anyone to capture amazing photos using an easy-to-assemble drone that can be controlled by the devices you already have and can carry the camera you already love to use. Consumers demand simplicity and we believe the PlexiDrone is the first drone to fulfill that expectation.”

About DreamQii

DreamQii is a Toronto-based robotics company that develops easy-to-fly drones, powered by next-generation control software with industrial strength capabilities. Its first product is the PlexiDrone, a consumer grade professional-use drone that snaps together in under 45 seconds, with no tools required, and works with your favorite camera and mobile device. DreamQii is the brainchild of co-founder and CEO Klever Freire, previously a flight design engineer at Bombardier. Klever has assembled an experienced team of co-founders, designers and developers to work on the DreamQii vision: to bring an easy drone-flying experience to consumers.

Paul @ MM - This looks like a dream drone! Hopefully get our hands on one ASAP and show you what it's capable of!

Look what you've done - Fashion Lookbook Video

Posted By: CelinMay - Monday, January 12, 2015

After watching lots of typical lookbook videos, where fashion bloggers simply show off their latest purchases by posing in front of the camera, I got motivated to do something similar but with more variety.

I wanted to do something more "creative" and so I made my own fashion video.

It might not be a normal lookbook video, but I still hope it gives you a little outfit inspiration and a motivation to do something creative too.
