December Favourites ♥

Posted By: CelinMay - Thursday, December 18, 2014
Hey guys!

Today I’ll be showing you my December favourites, concerning all my favourite clothes, accessories, etc of this month.
I actually wanted to make a new video too but my camera has broken down and so I can’t film anything… Luckily, I was able to take some photos and below you can see my first favourite of December: my new rings from Primark.
I really love wearing rings, I never leave the house without any ring on at least one finger!

Next to my new rings, I do also love my new sweater from Forever21. I've never worn such an comfortable and cosy sweater like this. It might sound stupid but I could wear it everyday!

My last “December Favourite” is this scarf. I can hear my mom saying “Don’t you have enough clothes yet?” but I really had to buy this scarf and I guess it can’t be wrong to have another scarf as it’s quite cold here in Vienna with an awful wind blowing so heavy nearly everyday…;)

Instagram Updated - Fancy new filters + Features!

Posted By: Unknown - Tuesday, December 16, 2014
Instagram has been updated with 5 beautiful new filters and a slew of new features!
I know this probably has you jumping up and down thinking of all the possible new food / selfie / fashion shots you can create, but sit down for a second and let me tell you what is new.
The reason for the new update seems to be that camera phones are getting better and better nowadays, constantly evolving with more megapixels, nicer image quality and Instagram has to take advantage of that.

The new version is sure to take advantage of the higher quality images, which softens and adds subtle colour shifts to your photographs.
The tray has also been redesigned, allowing you to see a small blurred preview of the image before you tap on it.

So what do these filters look like? Take a look below.

Slumber

Crema

Ludwig

Aden

Perpetua

You also now have the ability to swap filter positions, so if you use the same 5 filters over and over again, you can put them at the start of the list so you don't have to shift through all the others to get to them.

You also now have the ability to upload slow motion videos (fantastic for you iPhone 6 and 6+ users especially), and the comments now update in real time, no more having to spam the refresh to see new comments.

Overall it is a truly fantastic update and means that the worlds most popular image sharing platform sits nicely in line with the new hardware that seems to be constantly coming out.

Foldio2 "Bigger & Smarter" Kickstarter

Posted By: Unknown - Monday, December 08, 2014

'Foldio is the first pop-up studio for your smartphone. It becomes bigger and smarter. Feel the thrill of taking awesome photos.
Foldio becomes more powerful and easier. You can experience the thrill of taking great photos by yourself with Foldio.

People take pictures with smartphones easily enough, but it’s difficult to get high-quality pictures due to random lighting or the background, especially for photography intended to promote a product.

In comparison, a photo studio has backgrounds and lighting which are completely controlled, which results in high-quality pictures. However, much time is needed to get the setting right, and the rental cost is quite hefty.

So we started to design a photo studio for use with a smartphone - a simple, easy-to-use portable studio for everyone.

Foldio (a portmanteau of "foldable" and "studio") is portable photo studio with a foldable design for smartphones. Foldio allows anybody with a smartphone to easily take studio-quality pictures. This is our ambitious project intended to unfold a whole new level of possibilities in smartphone photography.'

Paul @ MM - We think this is an AWESOME product and we know the original Foldio was a huge hit, this just takes it above and beyond.

So please go check out their Kickstarter over at - http://kck.st/1tDD85A

Vegan Russian Chocolate Cheesecake

Posted By: CelinMay - Saturday, December 06, 2014
I totally forgot to introduce myself in my last post, my name is Celin and I'm a blogger from Austria. I'll be making some more blog posts here about fashion, music, etc. but lately, there has been a huge change in society concerning nutrition and healthy diets.

While it was more or less a "must" on every family members plate to have it covered with at least one piece of meat for dinner, it's becoming more and more popular to follow a vegetarian/vegan diet. I guess everybody knows what defines a vegetarian, but some may still wonder what "vegan" means.
People who follow a vegan diet do not only go without eating meat, they do not eat any other products, which were produced by animals in any way, either. For example: eggs, milk, butter, etc.

I've always thought that eating vegan must be hard and unbalanced - but it's exactly the opposite! There are so many great products for vegans out there and vegan food can be tasty, too!
To test this I've tried baking a vegan cake and I have to admit that I was quiet unsure whether it will taste good or not. But, yes this vegan russian chocolate cheesecake tastes amazing! And it's a lot healthier than a normal cake. If you want to try it out (and I guess you should) you can find the recipe below!

RECIPE

Ingredients

Chocolate Crust
1 2/3 cups (200g) flour
scant 2/3 cup (120g) sugar
2 level tsp. baking powder
1/4 cup (20g) cocoa powder
1 heaping tsp. instant coffee
2 Tbsp. soy or chickpea flour
1 pinch salt
1/2 cup (125g) cold margarine

Cheesecake Filling
1/4 cup (40g) vegan vanilla pudding powder, or 3 Tbsp. Bird's Custard Powder
1 Tbsp. soy or chickpea flour
4 Tbsp. soymilk
16 oz. (500g) plain vegan yogurt (one big container)
1/2 cup (125g) margarine, melted but not hot
scant 2/3 cup (120g) sugar

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 320F (160C).
Mix the dry ingredients together, then use your finders to mix in the margarine. When it's done, it should get slightly darker in color and form little crumbs. If it's too dry, add a little canola or vegetable oil one tablespoon at a time and mix again with your fingers until it's ready. When that's done, take 3/4 of the mixture and flatten it into your baking form. The rest will be used to sprinkle on top. I used a spring form pan. Set aside or put in the fridge while you make the rest.
Mix the pudding powder or custard powder and the sugar and then add the soymilk and stir until combined.
Add the rest of the ingredients and mix once more until even.
Pour over the crust and then use the reserved chocolate part to crumble over the top.
Bake for 75 minutes, let cool for an hour or so until everything solidifies. Eat.

Give your hair a whole new look in less than a minute!

Posted By: CelinMay - Thursday, November 20, 2014
Tired of wearing your hair hanging loose or tied up in a ponytail? There is a simple (and stylish) way to change that in less than a minute and I'm not talking about complicated braid hairstyles. An easier way to give your hair a totally new look is by adding some hair accessories to it.

There is a huge variety of accessories out there starting with hair bands over hair clips to hair crowns. You might say now "What? A hair band? That clearly doesn't match the shape of my face!"
But, as there do exist so many different types of hair accessories, I'm sure you'll find the perfect one.

Well, another advantage of hair accessories is the fact that you can buy them simply everywhere. At H&M, Zara, etc. - you can even order them online. Online stores like ASOS, for example, offer more than 300 accessories including hair turbans, which are a "must-have" for every fashion-addict in fall/winter 2014.

But in the end, the best thing about hair accessories is that they give your hair a totally fresh look in a few seconds and if you're tired of wearing a hair clip or headband you can simply take them off again.

LG announces limited edition Ashley Williams Garment Carrier

Ashley Williams for LG

LG announces limited edition Ashley Williams Garment Carrier

LG Electronics (LG), Official Garment Care Supplier to London Fashion Week, has partnered with celebrated British fashion designer Ashley Williams to launch the limited edition Ashley Williams for LG Garment Carrier, giving fashion lovers a full garment care solution from laundry basket right through to its next outing.

The Ashley Williams for LG Garment Carrier will be available to buy in October on http://www.ashleywilliamslondon.com for £35.

A video of Ashley Williams talking about the Garment Carrier can be seen here and Ashley William’s Top Tips for SS15 can be seen here.

A recent survey by LG revealed that on average British adults ruin 1 - 2 pieces of clothing each year whilst doing their laundry; with more than 600,000 people estimated to have spoiled a staggering nine items in just 12 months.
With the launch of the bespoke Ashley Williams for LG Garment Carrier, LG hopes to encourage Brits to take more consideration when caring for their couture and promote the value of investing in and maintaining a future-proof wardrobe, over the trend for throw-away fashion.

This is Ashley Williams’ first partnership with LG and the designer comments, "My Spring Summer 15 collection has been inspired by how the East and the West has responded to the 60's and 70's cultural revolutions.
As a designer, I'm constantly looking at ways of bringing the past into the present by modernising and re-interpreting fads and trends. Sometimes though, it would be nice to have the original garment still intact."

Dawn Stockell, LG Head of Brand Marketing, adds: “As LG enters its seventh consecutive season supporting London Fashion Week, we’re encouraging consumers to think about how to properly care for their wardrobes to ensure clothing lasts longer.
LG’s unique 6 Motion Direct Drive Washing Machines offer a range of advanced features to allow consumers to care for even their most delicate clothes at home and the unique Ashley Williams for LG Garment Carrier is an extension of this.
With sustainable fashion being increasingly important, much like our range of 6 Motion Direct Drive washing machines, we hope consumers will use the garment carrier to prolong the lives of their clothing and benefit from the long term financial and environmental benefits of slower fashion.”

This partnership marks the brand’s return as the Official Garment Care Supplier to London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2015, for the seventh consecutive season. As part of this collaboration, LG’s Steam Team continues to play a key role during London Fashion Week, working backstage to ensure that all clothes look fresh, sleek and sharp for the runway.

LG Smart Washing

An industry leader in Smart appliances, LG’s washing machines allow you to control them through your smartphone. Using NFC technology, the same technology as on a contactless bank card, the consumer can now download and select new washing programmes such as Wool, Baby Care and Cold Wash by touching the smartphone to the NFC Tag On symbol. The NFC feature also offers Smart Diagnosis™ which helps to identify any small problems and advise on how to best care for the washing machine before it becomes a larger problem.

The bespoke Ashley Williams for LG Garment Carrier features a classic Ashley Williams print and will be available to buy in the UK in October 2014.
*NFC: Near field communication (NFC) is a set of standards for smartphones and similar devices to establish radio communication with each other by bringing them into proximity, usually no more than a few inches.

Nokia Lumia 930 Review

Posted By: Unknown - Monday, November 03, 2014

The Nokia Lumia 930 (keeping the heritage of the company even since the Microsoft buyout) had us intrigued since it's release, and we think it is a stunning Windows Phone, read more to find out why!

Design:

The Lumia range of phones have long been renowned for their simplistic but sturdy construction, and the 930 is no exception.
It feels comfortable in the hand, thanks to it's slightly curved rear and the rounded edges of the chassis. The Lumia 930 also has a nice hefty weight to it, not so much that it fatigues your arm, but a reassuring sign of quality.

A non removable vibrant back panel is the staple of the design, with a variety of colours to choose from, so the battery itself is fixed in place which may be a problem for some.

There is a lovely large 5 inch screen with a softly beveled glass front, slightly unusual when compared to the flat design of most phones, but it's certainly distinctive and we like it!
Running Windows 8.1, the phone is no slouch, has a familiar feel for all those Windows users out there and even those new to it.

The tiled OS approach is a very nice and simple way of using and organising apps, we grew to really like it with a bit of practice. The ability to resize tiles is a fantastic feature!

It is safe to say that design is a large factor of the appeal of the Lumia 930, from the build quality to the aesthetics of the software/hardware, it is certainly a looker.

A rear mounted speaker plays your music / app sounds, and does it's job well. Don't go expecting Boomsound clarity or loudness, but it does the job admirably.

Camera:

Boasting a 20 megapixel sensor, the Lumia 930 has the ability to produce some lovely images, it even lets you save them as a RAW .dng for future external processing, how cool is that!?
Using the Nokia Camera app gives you full manual control over the camera, from shutter speed to ISO to focus, it is something other manufacturers can learn from, this is the way forward.
Ofcourse there is always the standard full auto modes which do a great job for a happy snapper.
We were impressed by the amount of detail this captures, rivaling compact cameras.

Built in Optical Image Stabilisation will help those with shaky hands to get that crucial shot, which also helps that the focusing is quite fluid on the camera. No issues there really noted.

One thing that did bother us during testing is how noisy the image can appear in dim light on the preview, however once you take the image it was significantly better (mostly due to the processing we assume), so there is a slight bit of guess work.

You also have the ability to record up to 1080P 30fps, which can give some nice video, this is where the stabilisation really shines.

(The upcoming Denim update also gives you the ability to record in 4K!)

We were VERY impressed by the 4 microphone array that the Lumia 930 uses, which gives a very natural and full sound to your video recordings, as can be heard in our video HERE.

So for all those musicians, Youtubers etc out there, this could be a fantastic feature for your recordings.

Display:

The Lumia 930 sports a 5-inch Full HD 1920x1080 AMOLED display, and while it doesn't match the Quad HD screens of some competitors, it is a VERY strong display and is a delight to use.
Bright, vivid, fantastic viewing angles and easy to read in direct sunlight, it copes with day to day use very well.
It is one of the nicest screens I have personally used, and that's saying something!

Performance:

Windows 8.1 is a nice change of pace from Android or iOS, and it is very snappy to the touch.
We had no problem with the performance of the phone, even if it doesn't use the latest Snapdragon processor, it does the job and performs as a phone of this price should.
Games (while limited by the selection) run flawlessly in most instances, so do general apps. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, all work without a hitch, gliding between one another with ease.
No discernible lag was present at the time of testing.

Battery & Call Quality:

One of the main features of any phone nowadays with all these huge screens and powerful components is the battery life! I can happily say that we were thoroughly impressed with the Lumia 930, in a typical day of use we soared through the day with 20-30% leftover, so we didn't have to sit there and worry that it was suddenly going to conk out on us.
A big thumbs up on that one.

Of course if you are going to be sitting there playing games on it all day with the screen on full brightness and background apps running, your mileage may vary!
In regards to call quality, it was clean, loud and crisp from both the receiving and sending sides.
The on ear speaker gave us good clarity, and plenty of volume for our conversations without struggling to hear what the other person was saying.

Very good results on the sending side too, I assume due to the fantastic microphone array on the phone, we expect nothing less.

Conclusion:

The Lumia 930 is most certainly the finest Windows Phone out there at the moment, a true class leading performance put in by a well designed and thought out phone.

A great screen, a good camera in decent light, fantastic microphones for video recording (and time will tell if the upcoming 4K video will be just as good as competitors) and solid built quality make this one that is sure to bring new customers in to the world of Windows phones.

Windows 8.1 is a beautiful experience overall and will please most of the crowd, apart from the die hard iOS or Android lovers who may complain about the lack of apps in comparison to their platforms, but the main ones are there don't worry.

Microsoft are doing Nokia proud, we hope they carry on with the brilliant design and bolster the software side, if so other manufacturers better watch out!
So there you have it, the best Windows Phone hands down.
